Hunter Black Page 63 - Then Don't MAKE Me Laugh

My toxic masculine trait is that I feel a need to be tough. I want to be able to endure whatever I have to in order to take care of my and my people. (It gets harder and harder the older I get.) It's not so toxic, however, that I can't offer that same need and that same toughness to my female characters (not to mention the women in my life).

When we first conceived of this character, she was male...an old man. Fortunately for me, I often ask myself, "Should this character be female?" Now, making Maliya a woman pushed me into adding new issues with the character that maybe I wouldn't have done today -- but I honestly think it all turned out for the best, given the noir feel that we were and are going for.
