Hunter Black Page 33 - A Wonderful View

I'm very proud of our earliest Hunter Black work...but that doesn't mean it isn't rough. It's hard not to look at this and think, "Aw, we were trying SO HARD." We were still flush with the thrill of reading and rereading Darwyn Cooke's The Hunter, his first adaptation of one of Richard Stark/Donald Westlake's Parker novels. If Darwyn hadn't made those books, this comic wouldn't exist.

We weren't quite there yet...that's what I see when I look at this. (Are we there now? We'd better at least be able to fake it, because people are starting to pay us like we are.) There's a raw noob energy that comes to me off of this page. But we had the most important thing -- we were gonna do this no matter what.

This was a great way to cut our professional teeth.
