Hunter Black Page 14 - Somebody Talked

Ah, the Sovran Twins. This is a perfect example of how I like to build a setting. Of course, I did a ton of world-building before ever working on the script for the comic. But I was still new to these characters and to this place that I would come to call the Known World. My characters needed to be more comfortable with the Known World than I was at the time, and so I put on my One-Semester-Of-Improv-Class Hat. When a prison is rumored to be inescapable, the first thing someone will bring up is the rumors of the people who managed to escape. This nugget of improvised dialogue served me well -- it's the seed from which an entire Volume of this series grew.

I guess this is writing advice, although it started off just as commentary on process.
